Auditions for 'Once' the Musical with Community Theatre at Woodbury

Area talent is invited to audition for this captivating musical.

Press release

WOODBURY, CT - The Community Theatre at Woodbury (CTAW) will close out its 11th season with ‘Once’ the Musical. Area talent is invited to audition for this captivating musical that is the only show to have won an Academy Award, a Grammy Award, an Olivier Award, and a Tony Award.

The show will be directed by Kris Geddes with Music Direction by Bill Geddes. The Geddes are long-time Woodbury residents and retired Region 14 educators. With over thirty years of theatre experience, they have worked with students and adults in many capacities; from costuming, to directing and just about everything in between. The Geddes have been an integral part of the CTAW development over the past 10 years with Bill leading lighting and sound design and operations at the Old Town Hall and Kris serving on the board of directors and lending her talents as production stage manager for multiple shows. Together, the couple collaborated to produce the WBC Music Foundation production of “Company" in 2018.

Kris shares, “Once captivated audiences of the 2007 film. When it was adapted for Broadway, it created a buzz, further expanding its fascination. Bill has gotten to know several local bluegrass musicians. Realizing that the roots of bluegrass are grounded in the music of Ireland, it became a goal to bring the two worlds together and develop an ensemble of “Dublin Pub Musicians!” Weaving this style of music together with an amazing love story makes Once an unforgettable theatrical experience.”

Auditions will be held Saturday, January 25th from 11-1 and Sunday, January 26th from 2-4 at the Old Town Hall in Woodbury, 5 Mountain Rd. Woodbury, CT. 06798. Interested performers should email wmgeddes@gmail.com to reserve a time. Auditioners will be asked to sing and play selections from the show and read from the script. Additional audition and production information can be found on CTAW’s website: www.ctaw-ct.org
