BREAKING: Joaquin Becomes a Hurricane; Connecticut Impact Expected
We're expecting heavy rains and flooding concerns in advance of the newly formed hurricane, which continues to move north.

Tropical Storm Joaquin has been upgraded to a category 1 hurricane as of Wednesday morning, and meteorologists are not sure if the tropical system will make its way toward Connecticut.
But even if it doesn’t take a direct route to Connecticut, its impact will likely be felt all weekend.
“It could be a significant situation,” said Brian Fortier, senior meteorologist at The Weather Channel, via NBC Connecticut on Wednesday morning. “Everyone along the Northeast coast, right up to New England, should keep a close eye on the forecasts.”
