Clean up, Green up (volunteer river and roadside clean up)

Join Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition and the Woodbury Conservation Commission as we spend a day healing our wounded waterways in Southbury and Woodbury.

On May 7, we are going to clean up some of the mess this difficult winter and recent flooding has left behind, both in our rivers and streams and along their banks as well as along roadsides. When all the snow melts and the waters have receded, trash flushed from every corner of the watershed remained in place, an unsightly testament to the power of nature.

We’ll pick up the trash, recycle what we can and responsibly get rid of the rest of it. We will do as much as available volunteers allow. The more volunteers we can muster, the more help we can offer.

Volunteers should plan to meet at Hollow Park in Woodbury at 9:00AM on Saturday May 7th.  From there, teams will be sent out to sites in need of clean up.  You’re also invited back to the Hollow for lunch.

We do ask you to register in advance so we can plan accordingly for lunch.  When you sign up, we will also let you know what you should bring with you so you are prepared for the day.  To volunteer, or if you need more information, please contact us by phone 203-267-1700 or email events@pomperaug.org

The Pomperaug watershed is a precious gift we all share; let’s not take it for granted.
