Ali Ryerson, one of the most exciting and versatile flutists on the scene today, will perform at the Mattatuck Museum’s First Thursday on December 1, 2011 from 5:30 - 7:30pm. Ms. Ryerson performs with an amazing depth and fullness of sound.
Ali Ryerson has toured the USA, Canada, Europe, Japan and Africa, and has performed in many major jazz festivals, including the famed Monterey Jazz Festival, the JVC in New York, Guinness Festival in Scotland, and Carnegie Hall. She has performed with such diverse talents as Dr. Billy Taylor, Kenny Barron, Stephane Grappelli and Frank Wess.
Ms. Ryerson has released over a dozen jazz albums which include two recordings, in duo, with guitarist Joe Beck. The most recent recordings are with Flutology, 'First Date' featuring the Frank Wess and Holly Hofmann, and Ryerson & Rudoph's 'Soul Quest', featuring Steve Rudolph on piano and Steve Varner on bass.
