For generations of Waterburians, the South End was a village unto itself. Jobs were plentiful in the button and buckle shops and the big brass mill. Dorothy Cantor, former Director of Education at the Mattatuck Museum, will take us on a tour of the past and the present. Using historic photos and maps, participants will see how the South End grew around the water systems. Participants will tour a nearby neighborhood of triple deckers and single family homes that retain their character and charm.
