Fallen Firefighters Remembered at Memorial Service
The 9th Annual Firefighters Memorial Service will take place at noon Sunday, Sept. 25, at the Connecticut Fire Academy in Windsor Locks.

The 9th Annual Firefighters Memorial Service will take place at noon Sunday, Sept. 25, at the Connecticut Fire Academy, 34 Perimeter Rd., Windsor Locks.
“This memorial service provides us all with a valuable opportunity to honor all of the brave firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty,” said Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection Commissioner Reuben F. Bradford in a press release from the state Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection's Commission on Fire Prevention and Control. “We will never forget the sacrifices they have made.”
The two names added to the memorial this year will honor the following fallen firefighters: Bruce Bachinsky of the Waterbury Fire Department and Robert Watts of the Windsor Volunteer Fire Department.

A 12-foot steel beam artifact from the World Trade Center, recently installed adjacent to Connecticut’s Fallen Firefighters Memorial, will be dedicated.
The public is invited to join firefighters from throughout Connecticut and New York City at this hour long event, taking place rain or shine.

The Connecticut State Firefighters Association Memorial Foundation, in cooperation with the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection's Commission on Fire Prevention and Control host the event.
