Festival of the Arts to Feature Students Works

From Quassy Amusement Park: Festival of the Arts, the annual day celebrating student art and music at Quassy Amusement Park here, will have a new look for 2019 as the event will allow elementary, middle and high school students to show their work in a variety of mediums.

There is no fee for students to enter the May 4 event, but pre-registration, which is open now, is required. Categories to be judged by regional art teachers include photography, sculpture, painting, drawing and multi-media. Awards will be presented for first to third place in all categories in all three divisions.

Musical groups such as school bands, orchestras and choruses are also being scheduled to perform on the Carousel Theatre stage. Musical performances will not be judged.

“We’re delighted that art program we have supported for years will be expanded,” said George Frantzis II, a Quassy owner. “This new format opens up Festival of the Arts for more student participation across a broad spectrum of mediums.”

The art registration form is available for teachers to download at http://www.quassy.com/media-resources/press-releases/ or by contacting the park office at info@quassy.com. School musical groups wishing to perform should either e-mail the park or call 203-758-2913 to schedule a performance time.
