Firefighters Tackle Two Brush Fires in Two Days
The Woodbury fire chief said it's simply too dangerous to be burning materials at this time.

First, a Woodbury resident was burning material on his compost pile at a Hard Hill Road home in Woodbury on Sunday, April 21, Woodbury Fire Chief Janet Morgan said.
"First, you can't burn on Sundays," she said.
Then, on Monday, April 22, a Woodbury resident was burning construction materials in a wooded area on Mountain Road. Residents saw the smoke and called the fire department, according to Morgan.
Because the conditions are just right for forest fires, the danger level is marked as high and that means two things: all existing burning permits are rendered inactive and new permits aren't issued, she said.
Once the danger level drops to moderate, Morgan said burning permits are issued but it also depends on where on the property the resident wants to burn materials.
"We just go day by day this time of year because it's so hard to determine what's safe or not," she said.
If you have questions on burning permits, the Woodbury Volunteer Fire Department can be reached at 203-263-3100.
