Former Middlebury Resident Arrested in Oxycodone Bust

Federal officials said a borough man sold painkillers to an undercover informant — the third arrest of this type in a week.

 

Another Naugatuck man was arrested Thursday on charges of selling oxycodone to an undercover federal informant.

Joseph Ferrari, 28, was taken into custody by on April 5 after being served a warrant by the federal Drug Enforcement Administration.

His address, provided by Naugatuck police, was 214 Spencer St., although federal officials said his last known place of living was 650 Whittemore Rd. in Middlebury, according to the warrant affidavit from Waterbury Superior Court.

Federal officials said Ferrari sold 28 oxycodone pills to the unnamed informant on January 31. The informant contacted Ferrari back in January and they agreed to meet in Waterbury, the warrant stated.

The purchase happened after the informant picked up Ferrari, and another individual, in the area of Scott Road and Dinatali Drive. During the car ride, the informant bought the drugs using $480 in DEA-allocated cash, and then dropped off Ferrari and the other individual at a Cumberland Farms on Plank Road in Waterbury, the warrant stated.

Ferrari was held on a $100,000 bond after appearing in Waterbury Superior Court on Monday. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance, illegal sale of controlled substance to a non-drug-dependent person and a conspiracy to sell narcotics.

Ferrari’s arrest marks the third drug bust of this kind in a week, on charges of selling oxycodone to an informant.

Court files did not indicate that the cases were related.
