FOURTH ANNUAL LITTLE BRITCHES 5K RUN/WALK SET FOR JUNE 5th IN BRIDGEWATER

5K RUN/WALK to Benefit Little Britches Therapeutic Riding June 5th in Bridgewater

BRIDGEWATER, CT, May 20, 2016 –The Fourth Annual Little Britches 5K Run /Walk will be held on Sunday, June 5, originating at the Bridgewater Pavilion, 100 Main St. South, and winding through the picturesque back roads of Bridgewater. Little Britches is a local nonprofit that has provided equine assisted therapy to children and adults with disabilities for more than 35 years.

The race is an important fundraiser for this local nonprofit. “Little Britches depends on the support of the communities where our students live. We require over 70 volunteers per week to operate the program. In addition, as an organization, we try very hard to keep the rider fees affordable, and in order to do this, we rely on the success of this race,” said Stuart Daly Vice President.

People with disabilities are often on the sidelines of athletic and social activities. At Little Britches the riders are the sports stars, no longer watching from the sidelines. There are numerous benefits from this unique therapy: the horse’s movement challenges the rider’s core muscles and improves posture, sensory integration, motor planning, sequencing and spatial awareness.
