Space is still available for girls in grades 1-12 to have a fun, safe place to explore and learn in the outdoors – as all girls may attend Girl Scout camp!
Summer camp benefits children in many ways, including increased self-esteem and confidence, further development of social skills to make new friends, and a greater sense of independence. A recent report by the Girl Scout Research Institute, entitled “More than S’mores: Success and Surprises in Girl Scouts’ Outdoor Experience” found that:
- Girl Scouts helps girls get outdoors – 97 percent of girls surveyed said they had done at least one outdoor activity in Girl Scouts during the last year;

- 50 percent of girls surveyed said Girl Scouts provided them with opportunities to experience the outdoors in ways they could not have otherwise;
- About three-fourths said Girl Scouts gave them the chance to build their skills or try new outdoor activities; and

- Girls who participated in outdoor activities in Girl Scouts on a monthly basis were stronger challenge seekers and problem solvers.
Girl Scouts of Connecticut’s Camp AnSeOx offers day camp programs in archery and other fun activities. Specific programs include Camp Olympics, complete with games, ceremonies, and tournaments; Advanced Outdoor Cooking, where girls prepare and cook a variety of treats; and Curious Naturalist, where girls learn to explore the natural world around them at camp. The camp has a swimming pool, bird sanctuary, butterfly garden, and playing field. One and two week programs are available from June 30 through August 8. Free bus service is included. Breakfast bunch with drop off as early as 7:00 a.m. is also available.
