Hazardous Weather Outlook for Woodbury, Middlebury: Intense Cold, Fog, Snow
If your house's pipes are prone to freezing, now is the time to prepare for that possibility!
The recent colder temperatures (not counting Sunday’s warmth) were just a preview of what’s to come this week. The following forecast is from the National Weather Service. A dense fog advisory was issued until 7 p.m. Sunday night for New Haven County.
- Sunday, Jan. 4: Showers, mainly before 10 p.m. Areas of fog before 1 a.m. Low around 28. West wind 8 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
- Monday: Mostly sunny, with a temperature falling to around 22 by 5 p.m. Wind chill values between 10 and 20. Northwest wind 15 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph.
- Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 10. Wind chill values between 5 and 10. Northwest wind 6 to 11 mph.
- Tuesday: Snow likely, mainly after noon. Cloudy, with a high near 21. Wind chill values between 5 and 15. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
- Tuesday Night: A slight chance of snow before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 13. South wind around 5 mph becoming west after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
- Wednesday: A slight chance of snow showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 21. Blustery. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
- Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around -1. Blustery.
- Thursday: Sunny and cold, with a high near 12.
- Thursday Night: A chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 10. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
- Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 25.
