Creator of Witches Dungeon presents a film series
Cortlandt Hull, the creator and make up artist of Witches Dungeon is offering a film series this January at the Bristol Historical Society located on 98 Summer Street in Bristol. On January 23 at 7 p.m. and on January 24 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. there will be a screening of the “DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL” - Directed by Robert Wise 1951(Wise was also the director of “Sound of Music” & “West Side Story”) with Michael Rennie, Patricia Neal, Hugh Marlow, Sam Jaffe, Billy Gray,Lock Martin as “Gort.”
This classic intelligent sci-fi film, warning of the follies of war, which may reach other planets as well. A spaceship lands in Washington D.C. carrying an alienfrom another world, “Klaatu” (Michael Rennie) with a giant robot named “Gort”.In order to show the overwhelming power the aliens possess, Klaatu neutralizes electrical power - all over the world. A memorable line, for sci-fi fans is delivered to the robot by Patricia Neal - “Klaatu, barada nikto”. With an eerie music score by Bernard Herrmann. The screening is preceded by classic cartoons and shorts - all shown on film, not video.
There is a $3.00 donation - all ages - refreshments and popcorn also available. The proceeds benefit the non-profit organizations - “The Witch’s Dungeon” and “The Bristol Historical Society”
