Increases Proposed In 2017-18 Woodbury Budget

Funding decreases at the state level are driving next year's town budget.

WOODBURY, CT — Town officials are proposing a $34.4 million budget for Woodbury next year, which is largely driven by expected cuts in state funding, reports the Waterbury Republican-American.

The proposed budget breaks down to $10.1 million for town operations and $24.3 million for Woodbury's contribution to Region 14 education, which it shares with Bethlehem.

Combined, the proposed budget is set to rise by more than $1.5 million, primarily due to the state's plans to reduce how much funding it sends back to communities. The town's proposed budget is slated to be the subject of a public hearing in late April.
