Jean Adele MacGregor Lewis, 93, Woodbury Resident
She worked as a teaching assistant in the audiovisual department at the Waterbury Hospital School of Nursing until her retirement in 1985.

Jean Adele MacGregor Lewis, age 93, of Woodbury passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, July 30th.
She was born on Church Street, Ansonia, Connecticut on April 21, 1923. She was the daughter of Leonard MacGregor and Grace Purdy MacGregor. She is survived by her husband Robert V. Lewis, Jr., two sons David H. Lewis and his wife Linda G. Lewis of Woodbury; and Robert S. Lewis and his wife Margaret E. Bakker of Shavertown, Pennsylvania; two grandsons Geoffrey D. Lewis, and Peter M. Lewis and his wife Misty M. Lewis of Woodbury; and three great-grandchildren Megan Lewis, Katelyn Lewis, and Hobie Lewis.

Jean graduated from Russell Grammar School in Waterbury, Crosby High School and then attended the Hartford Hospital School of Nursing until her marriage on June 9th, 1945. She devoted her life to raising her two sons. She worked as an assistant kindergarten teacher with her close friend, Barbara Egli Cawley, when her sons were toddlers, and later when they were in high school she worked as a teaching assistant in the audiovisual department at the Waterbury Hospital School of Nursing until her retirement in 1985.
She enjoyed oil painting, cooking, golfing and playing bridge with friends and flower gardening. But her greatest love, after her husband of 71 years, was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Angel Walker, Louise and Tanisha Barjon, and Elizabeth Opoku who provided loving care for many months, and the hospice caregivers from Hartford HealthCare at Home.

There will be a funeral service at the Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home in Woodbury, 2 School St. in Woodbury, at 11 a.m. on Thursday August 4. Burial will follow at New North Cemetery.
