Pedestrian Struck in Middlebury

Sofia Malinics, 51, of Southbury, was walking in the parking lot of Kelley & Company around 2:30 p.m. today -- Friday, April 13 -- when she was struck by a vehicle backing out of a spot, according to Middlebury Police.

is located at 40 Middlebury Rd. Police said the incident was minor and Malinics was transported to the hospital for evaluation.

The operator of the vehicle was Michele Obernier, 65, of Middlebury. Police said Malinics was in Obernier's blind spot.
