Nine-year veteran dispatcher Jason Chickos can be heard giving the husband step-by-step instructions over a cell phone on how to help prepare his wife give birth in the front passenger seat of the couple's Volkswagen.

The couple had been on their way to a birthing center at Danbury Hospital when they realized they weren't going to be able to make it there on time. So they pulled off the highway and parked across the street from the Blue Colony Diner on Church Hill Road in Sandy Hook where they called 911.

"I've never been a part of something like that," Chickos, 42, said. "It was amazing."

Chickos, who said he would like to have children of his own one day, said he was focused on making sure he gave the husband the right instructions.

"I was solely concentrated on doing the right thing," Chickos said.
