Marijuana at Memorial Middle School: Police Called to School By Officials

No names are released due to the age of the children involved.

 

Police were called to Memorial Middle School, 73 Memorial Drive, at approximately 2:15 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, for a reported drug offense, according to a police report released at 2:30 p.m. today - Friday, Jan. 20.

Police were summoned after school officials found a small burnt marijuana cigarette, known as a roach, on one of the students at the school, according to a report from the Middlebury Police Department.

The marijuana was brought to school by one student, given to another student, and eventually given to a third student, the report stated.

Middlebury police said school officials will deal with the students according to school policy.  Police are trying to determine where the marijuana originated. This is a juvenile matter and no names will be released, police reported.

Sgt. John Desmarais and Officer Fred Marcantonio are investigating the matter.
