May 30, 2015: WCGNM's 19th Annual Teddy Bear Festival

The Woman’s Club of Greater New Milford invites the public to the 19th annual “Teddy Bear Festival” on Saturday, May 30 from 10-3 on the New Milford Town Green

The 19th annual Teddy Bear Festival hosted by the Woman’s Club of Greater New Milford will take place on the town green on Saturday, May 30th from 10 to 3. Smokey the Bear will be joining us again this year escorted by firefighters from Water Witch Hose Company No. 2. As a special treat, Mrs. Ford from the New Milford Public Library will join storytellers and book readers under the big tree, and entertainment will be on hand throughout the day including game booths with prizes. And don’t forget to support our vendors from area businesses who will be donating prizes for our raffle!

The highlight of our festival is always the Teddy Bear Hospital. Attendees are invited to bring their favorite plush toys for a check up with our volunteer nurses from the Girl Scouts, “Surgeons” will be available for plush friends in need of repairs. Back by popular demand, the hospital will include an adoption center for bears in need of new homes. All Teddy Bear Hospital services are free of charge, but co-pay donations are welcome.

New this year will be the “Bare Bear Boutique” where inexpensive clothing and accessories can be purchased for your teddy bear, including sweaters, blankets and scarves handmade by club members.

All proceeds from the Teddy Bear Festival support the general fund of the Woman’s Club of Greater New Milford and will be distributed annually to the community. Each year we provide 2 scholarships for New Milford High School seniors. Other recent recipients include the Youth Agency, the Pratt Center, New Milford Parks and Recreation, New Milford VFW, New Milford Food Bank, the United Way of Western CT Back to School Program, New Milford Senior Center, and the New Milford Public Library Summer Reading Program.

The Woman’s Club of Greater New Milford is part of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, an international non-profit women’s organization dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service. WCGNM supports local area programs through their fundraising efforts, volunteers their time for service to the community, and sponsors two scholarships for NMHS seniors toward college education based on their community service.
