Memorial Middle School Students Honored

Five students from Memorial MS were selected to have their work published by the Connecticut Writer's Project at the University of CT.

From Pomperaug Regional School District 15: Five students from Memorial Middle School were selected to have their work published by the Connecticut Writer’s Project at the University of Connecticut.

The following students were selected as student winners for publication in the 30th issue of Connecticut Student Writers (CSW) magazine: Nicolette Chu for her artwork titled, “Torn in Two,” and Audrey Finn for her artwork, "The Beauty of Nature.” Selected for publication as honorable mention for writing are Vanessa Fry for her poem, "So What”, Hannah Kimmer for her poem "My Yellow Rainboots," and Kate Kennon for her fiction piece, "The Fight for my Pearly White.”

Their pieces were selected from more than 200 artwork entries and 1,500 written entries that were reviewed by volunteer teachers from across the State of Connecticut. The students will be honored at the Student Recognition Night hosted by the Connecticut Writing Project on Thursday, May 10th, at the Jorgenson Center of the Performing Arts, on the campus of the University of Connecticut in Storrs, CT.

Connecticut Student Writers is a statewide magazine established in 1988 and published by the Connecticut Writing Project (CWP) at Storrs, recognizing excellence in student writing and artwork in students from grades Kindergarten through 12.
