Middlebury Chief Leaving for Newtown Top Cop Job

The Newtown Police Commission voted Tuesday to appoint Chief Viadero.

The Newtown Board of Police Commissioners voted Tuesday to hire Middlebury Police Chief James Viadero as Newtown’s top cop.

Viadero is a Newtown resident, according to The Republican-American. He will be appointed Jan. 7 after current Chief Michael Kehoe retires.

Viadero has 30 years of law enforcement experience.
