Middlebury Man in Critical Condition after Plane Crash near Waterbury Airport

The crash occurred on Oct. 6 in the woods at Camp Mattatuck​ in Plymouth.

MIDDLEBURY, CT — James Bruton, 60, a Middlebury resident, pilot and former NBC News war correspondent, reportedly remains in critical condition at Hartford Hospital following last week's small plane crash near Waterbury Airport, writes the Waterbury Republican-American.

Bruton was piloting the plane when it crashed in a wooded area at Camp Mattatuck in Plymouth on Oct. 6.

The plane Bruton was flying was described as "experimental" by the Federal Aviation Administration, which is investigating the crash.
