Middlebury Police Blotter: Chickens, Bears and Syringes
Police deal with multiple animal-related issues over the past few weeks.

Chicken Complaints
On June 14, Middlebury Police received a request from a resident on South Street to talk to the dog warden about chickens.
The incident was the second fowl issue in two days, following a June 13 complaint also at South Street of a "chicken roaming along [the] roadway," according to Middlebury police records.

The records describe the chicken referened in the June 13 report as being "brought home and secured in his coop," and also referenced a new tenant in the area who reportedly cares for free-range chickens.

On June 19, Middlebury Police received several complaints of a bear in the area.
The first was filed from a residence on Midway Drive at 10:59 a.m. describing a "large bear in the yard" according to police records. The call was followed by subsequent sightings on Longmeadow Road at 11:28 a.m. and at a residence on Southford Road at 11:49 a.m.
Syringe Sightings
On June 17, Middlebury Police received a report from a resident on South Street who had "found a used syringe on her property along the street."
The resident reportedly said that other syringes had been found previously in the immediate area.
