Middlebury Police Blotter: Pool-Hopping and an Odd Dancing Man

Police dealt with a wide array of incidents last week.

Missing Kitties

On Aug. 4 a resident on Central Road reported an outdoor cat missing for several days. The bottom of the cat was described as all white, with the rest of its coat gray and brown.

Another cat, black and white, was reported missing on Aug. 2 in the vicinity of Birchwood Terrace.

Raccoons Abound

A raccoon was removed from a trap on school grounds on North Benson Road on Aug. 4 and the trap was scheduled to be reset.

Another resident on North Benson Road reported having problems with raccoons on Aug. 3, while a third resident on Strathmore Road complained of a raccoon in a tree on Aug. 2.

Finally, a resident on Three Mile Hill reported a lethargic raccoon roaming outside of their house on Aug 2.

Suspicious Man

A resident of Woodside Avenue reported seeing a "suspicious male in dark clothing standing across the street from her home, waving at her" on Aug. 4. According to police, the man was in an accident on the highway and they escorted him safely to a nearby Howard Johnson's.

Pit Bulls Tree Cat

A resident of South Street reported that two pit bulls chased his cat up a tree. The incident was reported on Aug. 3 around 6 p.m.

Lost in the Woods

Police received a call on Aug. 3 of someone walking a Great Dane lost in the woods in the area of the Lake West trails. The complainant was eventually able to find their way out of the woods with police assistance.

Shaving Cream and Pool Hopping

An employee on North Benson Road reported arriving at the business on Aug. 3 to find that its front doors had words and pictures written on them in shaving cream. Police investigated and found four shaving cream cans by the pool. The complainant also believed the perpetrators had gone swimming in the nearby pool. They requested extra patrols in the area.

Paint Ball Shooting

A caller on Kelly Road reported that her daughter was driving in the area when her car was struck by a paint ball. Police investigated and searched an area in the woods across from 266 Kelly Road. The incident occurred on Aug. 2 around 11 p.m.

More Pool Hopping

A caller from 27 Algin Drive reported that she had caught two teenagers swimming in her pool upon arriving home on Aug. 2. Police said she told them to get out and called authorities immediately, and added that there were a total of four teenagers running away from the home down Whittemore Road.

Missing Terrier

On Aug. 2 police received a report of a missing black and white Boston Terrier named Fenway. The animal was reportedly wearing a black studded collar.

Odd Dancing Man

A resident on Middlebury Road reported a man "acting oddly and currently dancing with headphones on a pushing a shopping cart with bottles and cans in it." Police received the report around 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 1 and found the man "continuing on," while still picking up cans and bottles and continuing to dance.

Pit Bull Found

Police received a report on Aug. 1 of a woman who had found a pit bull tied up to the side of the road near Maggie McFly's Restaurant. She tried to find the owner and could not and the animal was dropped off and transported to Waterbury Animal Control.

Missing Mastiff

On Aug. 1, police received a report of a missing 60-pound mastiff named Lucy. The dog was without a collar and had been missing since 4 p.m. the day before.

Toilet Papered Property

On Aug. 1 a resident on Regan Road reportedly found her car and property toilet papered. Police reported no damage.

Dogfight

On July 31 a Whittemore Road resident reported that his dog was engaged in a fight with an unknown animal behind his house. Police investigated and found the animal back in the home with a puncture wound. They reported no sign of the other animal.
