Middlebury Police Investigate Bubbles

The following is a press release from the Middlebury Police Department.

The Middlebury Police, along with the Department of Environmental Protection Law Enforcement Unit, investigated a cove in the North end of the lake near the Dinova Property.

Police and D.E.P. checked the cove and under the water after bubbling was observed in the middle of the cove. These bubbles were observed a few days after a boat was heard leaving the cove area early Sunday morning at a high rate of speed.

The bubbling lasted several days. Police checked with the D.E.P first to make sure there was nothing placed in the water to study fish or water quality by the D.E.P. fishery unit.

Police, after learning there was nothing placed by the D.E.P. in the cove, made arrangements with the law enforcement division for a boat to check the area.

With the first break in the weather being today Middlebury Police and D.E.P checked the area and found nothing, other than a few sunken beer cans. Most likely what was observed was a spring bubbling up.
