Middlebury Police 'Stretched to the Max' with Emergencies
The following is a press release from the Middlebury Police Department.

On Monday, June 20 at about 11:46 a.m. Middlebury Police were dispatched to 177 Green Hill Rd for a motor vehicle accident, car vs. tree. Police responded and found Ann Zimkus age:64 of 156 Curtis Road in Middlebury, CT operating her 1992 Ford Taurus had swerved off the road and struck a tree. Zimkus was transported to the hospital by Middlebury Fire Department Ambulance with a non life threatening head injury. A passenger in the vehicle was also transported to Waterbury Hospital via Campion Ambulance also with non life threatening injuries. Cause of this accident was defective brakes.
At 12:13 a vehicle operated by Sean Huff age:22 of 41 Pilgram Trail in Woodbury, CT operating a 20006 Hyundai Elantra went off the east bound right shoulder of Route 64 and went into a heavy wooded area between Lake Elise and Route 64. The vehicle could not be seen from the road. Chief Guisti and Officer Blick made their way into the thick brush and found the car about 50 feet from the water. The operator was transported to Waterbury Hospital via Campion Ambulance with non life threatening injuries. Speed was a factor in this accident. Karus Motors of Waterbury used a light duty and heavy duty wrecker to recover this vehicle.
At 12:14, a 4 year old student had a allergic reaction at Long Meadow School. Middlebury Fire Department covered this call while the police were tied up. Middlebury Fire Department transported to St. Mary's Hospital and the 4 year old is expected to be okay.

At 12:41 Police were dispatched to 590 Middlebury Road in Middlebury for a 1 car accident. Police responded and found that Nicola Albanese age:79 of 40 Woodfield Drive in Middlebury, CT operating a 1997 Subaru Legacy swerved off the road in front of the Four Corners Plaza and struck a tree. Campion Ambulance transported her to Waterbury Hospital with non life threatening injuries.
At 13:24 Middlebury Police responded to the Middlebury Convalescent Home for a elderly woman who fell down the stairs in the front of the Convalescent Home. The woman suffered a open head injury. Middlebury Fire Department transported her with a Campion Paramedic on board to Waterbury Hospital.
