MIDDLEBURY, WOODBURY WEATHER UPDATE: Steady Snow to Fall During Friday Night Commute

Today’s the first day of spring and of course snow will begin falling soon and be at its heaviest for the evening commute home from work.

The National Weather Service issued a “Winter Weather Advisory” for Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex, and New London counties, which is in effect until early Saturday.

A total of 2-5 inches of snow is predicted to accumulate. The weather service predicts hazardous travel conditions are possible due to reduced visibilities and slippery roads.

WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons writes that snow begins between noon and 3 p.m. and more snow will accumulate at the Connecticut shoreline.

He predicts 2-4 inches of snow for Fairfield County and most of New Haven County, but only 1-2 inches of snow for the rest of the state.

NBC Connecticut predicts snow will be at its peak intensity for the afternoon commute home from work, and a range of 2-4 inches of snow for the entire state.

Friday Night: Snow, mainly before midnight. Low around 23. Northeast wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Saturday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 40. Wind chill values between 25 and 35. Calm wind becoming southwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.
