New Agreement Helps Protect Middlebury's Water Supply, Rate Payers: Report
Connecticut Water Service and Heritage Village Water Co. are planning to merge, which prompted a lawsuit that has now been settled.

A new settlement between Southbury and Connecticut Water Service and Heritage Village Water Co. will help protect the water supply and rate payers of Southbury, Middlebury and Oxford, reports the Waterbury Republican-American.
The two utility companies, which have customers in the three communities, are merging, and Southbury filed a lawsuit claiming it was denied right of first refusal, according to the publication.
With the settlement, the two will not seek rate increases for at least four years and will donate funds for assistance programs, among other promises. Southbury has withdrawn the lawsuit.
