New Start Ministry Plans 'Race Against Time' To Raise $10,000
Registration is now open for the first "Virtual Run/Walk/Nap - Race Against Time."
Press release from New Start Ministry CT:
Oct. 28, 2021
New Start Ministry CT (NSM CT) is pleased to announce that online registration is now open for our First Virtual Run/Walk/Nap - Race Against Time to raise $10K. Our need is urgent as we plan on receiving a refugee family in November. This event isn't about exercise, but raising awareness about refugee resettlement, and generating support! We are inviting individuals, families, organizations, faith communities, and local businesses to form or join a New Start 10k Team that will run, walk, or even nap - no less than 0.0K - and share their experience by posting or sending photos to our social media pages and website.

“We started NSM CT in 2016 because we believe that when refugees are co-sponsored in conjunction with IRIS (Integrated Refugee & Immigrant Services) they have a greater chance of becoming self-reliant more quickly, which is mutually beneficial to the family and the community,” (Susan Suhr, Founder of NSM CT.) Our role as a co-sponsor is to secure affordable housing, collect furniture and household items, assist in accessing public benefits, enroll children in school, acclimate the family to their community and public transportation, facilitate job searches and provide ESL tutoring. We typically sponsor a family for 6-12 months. Donations are tax-deductible and can also be made online on our website: newstartministryct.org.
