Non-Profit Organizations Invited to Benefit From Raising Funds by Selling Raffle Tickets for Duck Race on June 5th

At no costs to the organizations, the Naugatuck Chamber of Commerce is inviting non-profits to raise needed funds through ticket sales

The Naugatuck Chamber of Commerce, a partner with the Waterbury Regional Chamber, is seeking local area non-profit organizations to benefit from the Chamber’s 11th Annual Duck Day and Race to be held Sunday, June 5, 2016, rain or shine, in historic downtown Naugatuck. Created in 2006 by the Naugatuck Chamber of Commerce, the Duck Day and Race has over 15,000 rubber ducks dumped by a pay-loader from the Whittemore Bridge to race down the Naugatuck River with the ambition to be among the first 26 ducks to win cross the finish line with the first prize of $5,000 for one luck ticket purchaser.

During Duck Day, Maple and Water Streets in Naugatuck will be transformed with food and craft vendors, live music, games, circus talent and much more. Businesses will exhibit their products and services to the thousands of event attendees.

The Naugatuck Chamber of Commerce is seeking local area organizations to assist the Chambers’ ambitions to sell raffle tickets to the general public for Duck Day. “This annual event draws over 5,000 attendees. By selling tickets, each organization gains the opportunity to raise money specifically to support their individual group’s mission and cause at no cost to them,” commented Lynn Ward, president and CEO of the Naugatuck Chamber of Commerce and the Waterbury Regional Chamber.

There is no fee for organizations to participate, and the Naugatuck Chamber of Commerce will donate $2.50 back to the charitable organization for each ticket sold by volunteers from each organization. Over the past ten years, more than 150 organizations have received over $300,000 back from their participation in the Duck Day and Duck Race.

“Non-profit organizations do not need to secure a minimum number of tickets to sell, nor is there a maximum number of ticket sales required for a donation to be made to the participating non-profit organizations following the race on June 5th,” stated Ward. “In 2015, more than 70 non-profit organizations and school groups collectively earned over $30,000 through their participation.”
