Obituary: Bruce Albert Noakes of Middlebury

He was educated in Woodbury Schools, graduated from Nonnewaug High School and earned a Bachelor Degree in Accounting from UConn.

MIDDLEBURY - Bruce Albert Noakes of Middlebury passed away on November 28, 2018 at age 65. He was a loving husband of Lynn (Robertson) Noakes.

Bruce was born in Waterbury on April 2, 1953, the son of the late Albert and Mary (Houle) Noakes. He was educated in Woodbury Schools, graduated from Nonnewaug High School and earned a Bachelor Degree in Accounting from the University of Connecticut.

After serving as a plant accountant and an internal auditor for Dairylea, Bruce had a 34 year career in the state and local tax field at Uniroyal and Cigna, retiring in 2013. He was an avid sports fan, particularly of auto racing and the UConn men's and women's basketball teams. He also bowled in leagues for many years, enjoyed participating in online fantasy baseball leagues and shooting pool one-handed with friends. Bruce had a keen sense of humor, a sharp wit and was well-known for joke letters he sent to family and friends.

Besides his wife of 26 years, Bruce leaves his sisters Gail Noakes of Woodbury, Cheryl Fonville and her husband Byron of Boston, MA, Karen Noakes of Palmer MA, Kathy Noakes of Waterbury, his in-laws Lewis and Elizabeth Robertson of New Milford and many cousins, nieces, nephew and several other in-laws.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will be made in his honor to the Woodbury Lions Club Scholarship Fund, P.O.Box 314, Woodbury, CT 06762 or to the Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center, 1075 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT 06798.
