Obituary: Genevieve Macary, 100, Formerly of Waterbury and Middlebury
Genevieve Macary and her husband were some of the founding members of Our Lady of Lebanon Church in Waterbury.

Genevieve (Tabshey) Macary of Branford, formerly of Waterbury, died Friday, Dec. 2, 2011, in Keepsake Village at The Hearth at Gardenside in Branford, where she celebrated her 100th birthday with family and friends on August 15, 2011. She was the widow of Martin Macary.
Macary was born in Waterbury on August 15, 1911, daughter of the late Amen and Catherine (Whibey) Tabshey. She was a long time resident of Waterbury and also lived in Middlebury before moving to Branford to be closer to her family.
She and her husband were some of the founding members of Our Lady of Lebanon Church. She was also a volunteer at Waterbury Hospital, where she received recognition for her many hours of service. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking and spending time with her family.
She leaves two sons, George Macary of Branford and Fred Macary of Renton Wa.; a daughter: Marsha Macary of Fort Lauderdale Fla.; two granddaughters: Dana LaCroix and her husband David of Branford and Jessica Macary of Renton, Wa.; a grandson: Christopher Macary of Crownsville Md.; two great grandsons: Benjamin and Matthew LaCroix of Branford; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband Martin of 51 years, she was predeceased by her granddaughter Bess Macary, two sisters: Georgianna and Josephine Tabshey, a brother, Fred Tabshey, and daughter-in-law Toni Macary.
Calling Hours: 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Lebanon Church, 8 East Mountain Rd., Waterbury.

Funeral: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, at Our Lady of Lebanon Church.
Burial: Following the funeral. All Saints Cemetery.
