Obituary: Michael J. Kiyak, 80, of Bethlehem

Farm life was a great joy in Michael Kiyak's life. He enjoyed fishing and growing fruit trees.

 

Michael J. Kiyak, 80, a life-long resident of Bethlehem, died Saturday, February 4, 2012, at Hartford Hospital. He was the husband of Edith Robsky Kiyak.

Kiyak was born January 21, 1932, in Bethlehem, son of the late Michael and Anna Penik Kiyak. He attended trade school for carpentry and for years built homes, including homes for his brother and sister.

Kiyak also built specialty pieces of furniture. He liked to fly airplanes, fish and hunt and build model airplanes. He passed his knowledge of mechanics and electrical work on to his sons which he enjoyed very much.

Farm life was a great joy in his life, from raising animals to gardening and growing and grafting fruit trees.

Besides his wife, Kiyak is survived by two sons, John H. Kiyak of Bethlehem and Michael J.Kiyak III and his wife Kathleen, of Rochester, N.Y.; his brother Stephen Kiyak and his sister Helen Gona, both of Bethlehem, and one grandson, Griffin Michael.

Memorial Service: 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at the First Church of Bethlehem, 21 Main St. South.
