Obituary: Pietro DiNicola, 75, Formerly of Waterbury

Pietro DiNicola moved from Italy to Waterbury in February 1974. He worked as a foreman at Specialty Packaging Products for 23 years, retiring in 1998.

 

Pietro DiNicola, 75, of 421 Harbour Reef Drive, formerly of Thendara Drive in Waterbury, died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2011, at the Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

He was the husband of Elena (Cotoi) DiNicola of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and widower of Ines M. (Cialfi) DiNicola.

DiNicola was born in Castel Paganica, L’Aquila, Italy on March 23, 1936, the son of Michelina (Nanni) DiNicola of Castel Paganica, Italy and the late Leonello DiNicola.

He moved from Italy to Waterbury in February of 1974. He worked as a foreman at Specialty Packaging Products for 23 years, retiring in 1998. He moved to Myrtle Beach in December 2006. He loved animals and his greatest joy was his grandchildren.

Besides his mother, he leaves his wife Elena of six years and two sons: Giannfranco DiNicola and his wife Raelynn of Waterbury and Leonello DiNicola and his wife Maria Luisa of Watertown; a daughter: Michelina DiNicola-Guerrera and her husband Robert of Middlebury; a step-daughter: Mirabella Roxana Uba of Bucharest, Romania; three brothers: Luigi DiNicola and his wife Angela of Rome, Italy; Gabriele DiNicola and his wife Michelina of Naugatuck; and Fernando DiNicola and his wife Susan of Woodbury; five grandchildren: Jessica, Melissa, Daniel, Annalisa DiNicola and Robert DiNicola-Guerrera; four step-grandchildren: Nicole, Chad, Kenny, and Paige Lynn Duprey; a step-great granddaughter: Makayla Messarole; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours: 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury.

Funeral: 9 a.m. Monday, Dec. 5. Leaving from Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home.

Mass: 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 5, at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception.

Burial: Taking place after the mass at Calvary Cemetery.
