Obituary: Richard E. Chapulis, 72, of Middlebury

For many years, he was best known as the friendly neighborhood bartender and permittee at the Lithuanian Club of Waterbury.

Middlebury – Richard E. Chapulis, 72, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the Vitas Inpatient Hospice Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury.

Mr. Chapulis was born November 14, 1946 in Waterbury, a son of the late Edmund and Helen (Urbanavich) Chapulis. Richard attended St. Joseph's School and was a graduate of W.F. Kaynor Technical High School.

Prior to his retirement, Mr. Chapulis was employed in both manufacturing and automotive industries. For many years, he was best known as the friendly neighborhood bartender and permittee at the Lithuanian Club of Waterbury. He was an avid N.Y Mets fan and enjoyed watching sports, as well as vintage movies and television shows.

Mr. Chapulis is survived by his sister, Carolyn Tata and her husband Ted, of Watertown, Susan Iseman and her husband Jim, of Westport and his brother Alan Chapulis of Waterbury. Richard had many friends and will be greatly missed for his kind heart and quick sense of humor

Arrangements – Friends may greet the family at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Waterbury, 496 Chase Avenue, on Saturday, January 19, 2019 from 10:30 A.M until 12:00 P.M. Burial will be private and at the convenience of his family. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Richard’s name to The Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center, 1075 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT 06708.
