Obituary: Robert Vincent Lavoie, 55, of Bantam

Robert Vincent Lavoie was a member of the Rat Pack Motorcycle Club.

 

Robert Vincent Lavoie, 55, of Bantam, died Sunday, November 27, 2011, at Waterbury Hospital. He was the husband of Suzanne Porter Lavoie.

Lavoie was born in Waterbury on February 18, 1956, the son of Joseph and Helen (Pasternak) Lavoie of Northfield.

He was the son-in-law of David and Ruth (Delaney) Porter of Middlebury.

Lavoie was a graduate of Watertown High School and attended Mattatuck Community College, now Naugatuck Valley Community College, and Southern Connecticut State College. He was the owner of Meadowview Construction.

Lavoie was a member of Rat Pack Motorcycle Club, where he passionately organized a variety of fundraisers. He was an avid sportsman that coached his children and their teams.

He played football at Watertown High School, Mattatuck Community College and Southern Connecticut and he was a member of the Watertown Football Hall of Fame.

Lavoie had an un-surpassing love for animals. But most of all he was a loving son, husband, son-in-law, father, brother, uncle and friend.

Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by his children: Bruce Lavoie and his wife Nicole of Vernal, Utah; René Lavoie and her husband Matthew Albee of Concord, N.H.; Carly Lavoie of Bantam; his brother, Joseph Lavoie and his wife Susan Frigo Lavoie of Southbury; his sisters: Catherine Lavoie and her husband John Stamos of Bethlehem; Dorothy Beckley and her husband Lance of Northfield; Janet Stocking and her husband Syd of Oakville; Cynthia Lavoie and her husband Norval Lunan of Morris; Gail Lavoie of Morris; Theresa Lavoie and her husband John Boucher of Litchfield; Mary Lavoie and her husband Michael McKeeman of Goshen; Diane Lavoie and her husband Nicholas Gabriel of Northfield; and several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements: The Memorial Service took place on Thursday, Dec. 1, at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury.
