Meteorologist Scot Haney said a flow of warm air will keep temperature high with chances of showers and thunderstorms on Tuesday, and that the heat will persist through this week. Temperatures may drop a bit on Wednesday and Thursday to mid-to-upper 80s, before rising again for a humid Friday.

This weekend, however, could be a tilting point. A cold front is expected to pass through southern New England, possibly bringing showers and autumn-like weather with it.
