Check Out the Pub Named Connecticut's Best Irish Bar

The Inishmor in Colchester is Connecticut’s Best Irish Bar, according to the folks at BuzzFeed and Yelp.

The two websites looked at reviews “tagged with both ‘Irish pubs’ and ‘Irish restaurants’ to come up with a definitive list of the best Irish bars across America.” To measure what was the “best,” Yelp used an algorithm that crunched the number of reviews and star ratings, according to the sites.

“The wood’s gotta be dark, the beer’s gotta be cold, there should be some sort of warm pot pie on the menu, and the vibe should be even warmer,” wrote BuzzFeed. “The spirits should be strong, too — but the spirit of the ~place~ should be strongest of all.”

Inishmor meets that criteria, as one reviewer wrote: “Being a guy whose surname begins with Mc, I felt right at home — really enjoyed this place. It’s a great little Irish pub. It deserves five stars for the beer selection alone.”

According to the owners, the pub is named after Inishmor (Árainn), Ireland. “the largest of the Galway Aran Islands (although its population numbers only about 900 inhabitants).”

They added on the pub’s website, “The owners of the Inishmor Pub, having wandered throughout Ireland in their 20s (mostly in and out of pubs), fell in love with the vast, open space and sense of community in Inishmor and sought to bring some of that to their hometown of Colchester.

“Inside the Inishmor, you’ll find an inviting, cozy space that caters to conversation, good food and spirits. We’re family friendly and palette friendly and we hope you’ll like our food as much as we love preparing it.”
