POLL: State Police Seize Illegal Fireworks in Waterbury: Arrests Made & More Expected

On Monday, July 2, the Connecticut State Police, Fire & Explosion Investigation Unit received information regarding the sale of illegal fireworks being conducted at 263 Perkins Avenue, Waterbury, according to a press release from Lt. J. Paul Vance.

Troopers responded to that location to conduct a search for the fireworks. A search of that residence yielded a large amount of explosives and illegal fireworks.

Taken into custody at that time were Karen Lavallee, 47, of 43 Juggernaut Rd., Prospect, and Thomas Cianciola, 44, of Wolcott, who were arrested and charged with illegal possession of explosives and illegal possession of fireworks.

During the course of the investigation, state police detectives developed additional information that lead to the execution of a search warrant on a mobile storage container located in the rear of Brass City Hyundai, 480 Watertown Ave., Waterbury, CT.

An additional cache of explosives and commercial fireworks was discovered at that location and were seized.

Troopers will apply to Superior Court for additional arrest warrants in this case for additional charges. The FBI New Haven field office assisted in this investigation.

The investigation is continuing and additional arrests are expected.
