Woodbury Community Theater at Woodbury presents is final production for our 2017-2018 season with the ever-popular play, Calendar Girls, by Tim Firth. This true story of a group of dynamic women who bare all--or nearly all--for charity and become international celebrities as a result takes place in the small town of Knapely, Yorkshire, England. Annie Clarke has just lost her husband, who was ill with leukemia. Inspired in his speech to the local Women's Institute, where he said that "the flowers of Yorkshire are like the women of Yorkshire", and "the last phase of the women of Yorkshire is always the most glorious", her best friend Chris Harper decides to make a calendar with twelve local middle-age women posing semi-nude to raise funds for the wing of leukemia treatment in the local hospital. The calendar becomes a huge success, making them famous and affecting their lives.
Before the performance and during intermission, there will be an opportunity to purchase refreshments provided by Carole Peck’s Good News Café and to donate to The Leukemia Society. Please note: Calendar Girls contains some partial nudity, and is not suitable for children. The Woman’s Club of Woodbury is one of the supporters for CTAW's fourth season and will be selling refreshments and soft drinks at each Sunday matinee.
