Projected Snow Totals In for Middlebury, Woodbury's Weekend Storm

Meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan says: “Midday European computer model shows a pretty substantial winter storm on Saturday [Jan. 24]. It will be a strong but compact system with a narrow band of heavy snow. Still too early to pin down exactly where that heavy snow will fall but it’s absolutely worth watching!”

Meteorologist Gil Simmons says: “I am holding steady on my thoughts for accumulating ‪snow‬ for‪ ‎Connecticut‬ Saturday!”

Since the earlier report noting the possibility of six inches of snow, the National Weather Service updated its forecast with projected accumulation totals for the Saturday, Jan. 24, storm.

The Most Current NWS Forecast

• Wednesday Night: A chance of light snow, mainly after 8 p.m. Cloudy, with a low around 20. Light north wind. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

• Thursday: A slight chance of light snow before noon. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 32. Wind chill values between 20 and 25. Calm wind becoming north around 5 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

• Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 18. Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph.

• Friday: Sunny, with a high near 34. Wind chill values between 15 and 25. Light and variable wind becoming west 5 to 8 mph in the morning.

• Friday Night: A slight chance of snow after 1 a.m. Increasing clouds, with a low around 22. Southwest wind 3 to 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

• Saturday: In Middlebury, a chance of snow, freezing rain, and sleet before noon, then rain and snow likely. In Woodbury, the forecast calls for snow. Cloudy, with a high near 33. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New ice accumulation of 0.1 to 0.2 of an inch possible. New snow and sleet accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible in Middlebury; 5 to 9 inches in Woodbury, according to The Weather Channel.

• Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 30.

• Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 12.

• Monday: A chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 26. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
