"Rabies is not only a deadly disease, but if your pets are not current with their rabies vaccination and come into contact with a rabid animal, they would be subject to a six month quarantine," she said. "Please tell all children to stay away wild animals and to notify an adult if they observe a sick or injured animal. Then notify your local animal control or the local police department."
