Region 14 Names New Schools Superintendent

This appointment by the Region 14 Board of Education took place at its regularly held meeting on Monday, September 17.

WOODBURY/BETHLEHEM, CT — The Region 14 Board of Education unanimously appointed Dr. Joe Olzacki as its next Superintendent of Schools. This appointment by the Region 14 Board of Education took place at its regularly held meeting on Monday, September 17, 2018.

Dr. Olzacki comes to Region 14 with over twenty years of public school service experience. He has served the last 5 years in Rwanda as Director of the Rwandan Teacher Education Program in partnership with the University of Hartford. Dr. Olzacki brings extensive leadership experience from other Connecticut school districts including Bloomfield, Chaplin, and East Haddam where he has worn several different hats in various Director positions.

He holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership, a Master's in Music Education & Conducting, Bachelor of Music in Concert Promotion, Management and Conducting, Bachelor of Arts and Sciences, and a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and Government. Dr. Olzacki will assume the role of Superintendent of Schools on Monday, October 1, 2018.

The appointment of Dr. Olzacki brings to close a four month search process which included multiple community forums, focus meetings, and a stakeholder survey which guided the action of the hiring committee.

"The hiring committee has brought to close a local, regional, and national search to find the best superintendent for our school district," said Board of Education Chairman Janet Morgan. "The Board of Education is both pleased and proud that Dr. Olzacki will be working with Region 14 students and staff as we believe he will be an extraordinary fit for our school community."
