Region 15 Schools to Host Critical Thinking Workshops
Middlebury parents and guardians are invited to attend the workshops on 21st-century learner expectations and critical thinking skills.
From Pomperaug Regional School District 15: All Region 15 parents and guardians are invited to attend informational sessions about 21st century learner expectations and critical thinking skills. The purpose of the workshops is to share some examples of our students’ 21st-century skills and to demonstrate how those skills, specifically critical thinking, are integrated in the Region 15 curriculum. Region 15’s 21st century skills are collaboration, critical thinking, communication, innovation/creativity, character, and global citizenship.
Two separate parent informational sessions will be held:
A middle and high school presentation on Critical Thinking and 21st Century Learning Skills will be held on Thursday, March 2nd, from 7:00-8:00 pm in the Pomperaug High School All Purpose Room. Region 15 Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning Dr. Carrie Chiappetta, High School Principal Glenn Lungarini and Middle School Principals Michael Bernardi and Dr. John Sieller, and teachers from both the middle and high schools will be presenting information.

An elementary school presentation on Critical Thinking and 21st Century Skills will be held on Wednesday, March 29th, from 6:30pm - 7:30pm in the LMES Cafeteria. Region 15 Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning Dr. Carrie Chiappetta, Elementary Principals Theresa Forish, Jon Romeo, MaryLou Torre, and Christopher Wermuth, elementary school teachers and students will be presenting information.
The Region 15 Board of Education adopted the following long-term district goal statement in September, 2015: Students will demonstrate the Region 15 learner expectations of collaboration, critical thinking, communication, innovation, global citizenship and character. These 21st century skills build on Regional School District 15’s long-standing commitment to high-quality education, and are designed to prepare students for the increasingly technological world in which they live and into which they will graduate.
