Report: Region 15 Schools Implement a 'Soft Freeze'

Pomperaug Region 15 School District has placed a “soft freeze” on nonessential spending after the district is running a $400,000 deficit currently in its special education account, and a total shortfall of $738,555, the Republican-American reports.

It’s still very early in the fiscal year, which doesn’t end until June 30. School officials say they plan to host a forum to inform residents about some of the special education challenges facing the district.
