Reptiles and Amphibians Focus of Flanders Program

Take a walk on the wild side at Flanders Nature Center May 30th.

After a long winter, spring is in full swing and the frogs and salamanders, snakes and turtles are out. Where do they live? What environmental pressures do they face? What can we do to help?

On Saturday, May 30th Dr. Susan Herrick will be visiting Flanders to present a program focusing on Connecticut’s reptiles and amphibians which will include live animals found on Flanders properties. After the talk, the group will take a walk on the Van Vleck Sanctuary, release the animals found earlier in the day, as well as search for more.

Susan Herrick, Ph.D. is an assistant professor in residence at the University of Connecticut. Her concentration is Behavioral Ecology and Herpetology, the branch of zoology concerned with the study of amphibians.
