Several Thefts Reported at Commuter Parking Lot in Middlebury

Several cars have had their windows smashed into and items have been reported stolen from the vehicles.

Several parked cars in commuter lots in Middlebury have been the subject of thefts, the Republican-American reports.

According to the paper, State police said the side windows of two cars were smashed between 4 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday. The cars were parked in the Exit 17 commuter parking lot off Interstate 84.

A purse containing cash and personal papers was taken from one of the cars.

On Tuesday, the driver’s side window of another car was smashed but no items were reported stolen, the paper reports. Last week, in the same parking lot, $3,100 in cash was stolen from a parked car.

Similar damage and thefts have been reported at commuter parking lots in Cheshire and Waterbury.

Anyone who sees suspicious activity in parking lots along I-84 is asked to call the Troop A barracks in Southbury at 203-267-2200. All calls will remain confidential.
