State Officials Seeking Person Responsible for Killing Black Bear
The carcass of a black bear was found in Roxbury Wednesday, and EnCon Police are hoping to identify the person responsible for the death.

ROXBURY, CT - State officials are hoping to find the person or persons responsible for killing a black bear which was recently found dead in this western Connecticut town.
According to a statement from the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP), Roxbury Town Hall began receiving complaints of a deceased black bear on Roxbury Land Trust Property adjacent to Upper County Road around 8 a.m. Wednesday.
Officers from the DEEP Environmental Conservation (EnCon) Police Division were dispatched to the area to investigate the suspicious incident, the statement said.

The carcass of an adult male black bear was located and removed for further investigation. A necropsy was performed Thursday with the assistance of the Wildlife Division in order to determine the cause and nature of death, the DEEP said.
EnCon Police are now requesting the assistance of the public to help identify the person or persons responsible for the killing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the DEEP Emergency Dispatch at (860) 424-3333.
