Steven L. Fisher, of Milford, beloved husband of Janet Pankiewicz Fisher, passed away at home August 6, 2026

Steven L. Fisher, 70, of Milford, beloved husband of Janet Pankiewicz Fisher and father of Katy and Meredith Fisher, passed away peacefully at home on August 6, 2026, after a six-month battle with cancer. Born on June 13, 1956, in Waterbury, he was the son of the late Charles and Ruth Stevens Fisher.

Steve was a devoted family man. He shared 40 happy years of marriage with Janet and was a loving father, cherished by his daughters. His family was the center of his life, and he showed his love through his constant support, generosity, and countless acts of kindness. Family, including his siblings and nieces and nephews, meant everything to Steve.

Steve was a steady and caring presence in the lives of his neighbors and friends, always willing to lend a hand or be there when someone needed him. In return, Steve and his family were shown incredible kindness and support when it was needed most.

Steve was a dedicated mail carrier in Waterbury and Milford until his retirement. To those along his route, he was more than the person who delivered the mail; he was a friend. During his years of service, Steve was recognized with an award for heroically saving a person’s life, an act that reflected the selflessness and compassion that defined his character.

Following his retirement, Steve proudly worked the penalty box for Sacred Heart University’s hockey teams. He also dabbled in antiques, opening his own antique booth for a time.

Steve found joy in a wide range of interests that reflected his curiosity and love of life. He took great pride in his yard and bountiful garden. He enjoyed music and documentaries. He loved to travel, seeking off-the-beaten-path experiences throughout the US and internationally including recent trips to Aruba, Scotland, England and Italy with his family.

For more than 35 years, Steve lovingly brought his family together for an annual lakeside vacation in Vermont, creating a treasured tradition and countless memories for his extended family and friends.

Steve leaves behind a legacy of kindness, friendship, service, and, above all, love for his family. Whether through the miles he walked delivering mail, the friendships he cultivated, the traditions he created, or the family he cherished, Steve made the lives of those around him better simply by being part of them.

In addition to his wife and daughters, Steve is survived by his siblings, Chuck (Linda) Fisher, Susan (Gary) Gianni, Jeff (Janet) Fisher, and Wendy (Bill) Salvatore; and his many dearly loved nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Monday, August 10, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street, Milford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. at Saint Gabriel Church- Saint Raphael Parish, 26 Broadway, Milford (MEET DIRECTLY AT CHURCH). Interment will be private.
