Stopped For Speeding, Arrested For Alleged LSD Possession
A car pulled over for speeding resulted in a narcotic bust in Middlebury.

A 1995 Chrysler Lebaron belonging to Middlebury resident Randi Ross was allegedly speeding on Long Meadow Road in Middlebury at around 2:06 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14.
A traffic stop was made by Sgt. John Desmarais, Officer Al Cronin and Officer Ed Demers, along with his K-9 JJ.

JJ alerted officers to the alleged presence of narcotics in the vehicle.
Randi Ross, 21, and Nicholas Stieler, 23, both of 470 Lake Shore Drive, Middlebury, were arrested on drug-related charges after a follow-up investigation of the residence yielded an alleged find of additional narcotics and drug paraphernalia.

Middlebury police charged both parties with various drug related charges listed below. Both parties were processed at the Middlebury Police Department and released on $50,000 non surety bonds with a court date set for December 21 at Waterbury Superior Court.

Ross and Stieler were charged with the following charges based on the car stop investigation:
- Possession of Marijuana 21a-279(c)
- Possession of Marijuana with the intent to sell 21a-277(b)
- Possession of Narcotics 21a-279(a)
- Failure to Keep a Prescription in the Original Container 21a-257
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia 21a-267(a)
The follow-up investigation at 470 Lake Shore Drive carried additional charges and both were charged with:
- Possession of Marijuana 21a-279(c)
- Possession of Marijuana with the Intent to Sell 21a-277(b)
- Possession of LSD 21a-279(b)
- Possession of LSD with the Intent to Sell 21a-278(b)
- Possession of a Controlled Substance 21a-279(c) (4 counts)
- Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Sell 21a-277(b) (4 counts)
- Failure to Keep Prescription in Original Container 21a-257 (4 counts)
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia 21a-267(a)
Assisting Middlebury police in this investigation were the Connecticut Statewide Narcotic Task Force, North West District Office and the Connecticut Department of Probation
